FILE DESCRIPTION: A Chord and TAB book for the album: "Youth & Young Manhood" by the Kings Of Leon. WRITER'S NOTES: First off, a big thank you to all the people who have e-mailed me to say well done for doing the TAB. So many have struggled to find anything suitable. So here it is! The complete chord & TAB book to the best debut album since Definitely Maybe! I've worked everything out as best I can, but Caleb's southern drawl is kinda hard to get to grips with on a couple of songs; mostly the middle 8 part on "Trani", but I think it's as near as I'm gonnae get. Here's a few details of what I used to gather information: "SPIRAL STAIRCASE", "MOLLY'S CHAMBERS" and "JOE'S HEAD" were all on BBC1 Scotland, which showed 6 programs from "T In The Park", 2003.(I was there and the Kings were fantastic!) 3 of the shows had the Kings on, so I managed to get the lyrics and chords worked out better. "CALIFORNIA WAITING" was played on "FRIDAY NIGHT WITH JONATHAN ROSS" on BBC1, so again I got a good look at what was being played. "MOLLY'S CHAMBERS" was also played on the "LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN". Various videos, TV appearances and photos were also used. I ripped the tracks to MP3 and loaded them into GOLDWAVE - (www.goldwave.com) which has excellent facilities to swap channels, isolate vocals etc. It was a lot easier, and more informative than just listening to the CD via your stereo and some headphones! Although I did use my headphones too. You'll see on the "HAPPY ALONE" track that Matthew plays in Drop D; Caleb stays in Standard tuning throughout the album. Also, on "GENIUS", Matthew uses Open G tuning. I know this because the Kings, well Matthew, was interviewed in the September 2003 issue of GUITAR magazine, (The one with The Darkness (Great Band) on the cover) and he said that the only time the machineheads deviate from standard tuning is on the two said tracks. I originally got the best part of the lyrics from the excellent, HAPPYALONE.COM, (www.happyalone.com) website but some of them weren't right, so using the vocal isolation technique on GOLDWAVE, I sorted out most of the ropey lyrics. I hope this will be of use to you; it should be! You can use this as and when/where you like. Please don't use it for profit; It wasn't created for that! Webmasters can use this file without my permission, just as long as I am credited as the author. Thanks again, and HAVE FUN! Deano.
